A modern project with apartments in the prestigious centre of Riga.
Hoft - House Of the Flying TreesIt is the trinity of a green view of the world and respect for the history of the city and modern architecture.
The careful restoration of the historic façade, installation of trees as part of the building’s architecture, and structural glazing as a mirror reflecting the surrounding historical building and serving as a stage for the installation of trees. Just like a space that says: “I’m not in charge here, I’m just giving you the opportunity to admire the world outside and inside of me.”
HOFT IS A PROJECT IN WHICH LANDSCAPING DOES NOT COMPLEMENT THE ARCHITECTURE - INSTEAD IT INSPIRES AND INTERTWINES WITH FORMS, CREATES NEW SPACE, AND BECOMES UNITED WITH FACADES.
Using a special anchorage system at different levels, the coniferous trees - cedar, hill pine, various kinds of bonsai trees - are placed in the central façade and in the courtyard of the house, on the terraces, and on the additional structures, thus creating a private park for the residents of the house - a green oasis in the city centre itself. It is a reflection on the theme “How can we not only preserve nature in the city but increase it greatly using modern technology.” The installation makes an incredibly strong impression, with trees growing just like in the natural environment on the tops and slopes of the mountains.
The HOFT project is located at Strelnieku 5 on a 1212 square meters landscaped area.
The Project consists of two residential apartment buildings with 7 floors each, connected by underground parking for 23 places.
The Strelnieku Street building is an architectural monument undergoing renovation and having two built-on floors.
The yard building is newly built. The Project includes 42 apartments, their surface ranging from 80,8 m2 to 246,2 m2, with an apartment merging possibility.
All the apartments have balconies of no less than 1.80 m in width, large bright windows and low sill windows allowing for a magnificent view of the courtyard and trees.
Ceiling height is 2.90 m, in the penthouse apartments it is 3.00 meters.
